MARKET UPDATE
Autumn is here! I do love summer on the Cape. How could you not? However, Cape Cod in the fall is really special. There is so much to enjoy from sightseeing on the bike path, whale watching is still busy, cranberry bog harvesting and many festivals to enjoy. Additionally, real estate is exciting here and nationally as well. First, on the Cape, the median sales price in Barnstable County is up 6.6% year-to-date at $751,500 according to the Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors®. The big news nationally, of course, is that the Federal Reserve voted to lower interest rates by 0.5%. You might be wondering what 0.5% can do to impact the housing market, but it does a lot. According to NPR.com, “A key reason for high home prices currently is the lack of housing supply: The U.S. is short millions of housing units. Supply has not kept pace with demand.” This means people who were not willing to leave their homes will be more likely to, adding inventory/opportunities to buy and builders will be encouraged to get building again.
We had great weather this summer and it’s continuing to be beautiful. I’m not sure our lawns have appreciated how dry it’s been. Some rain is welcome for sure! Check out the flipside for all the fun events happening this fall.
If you are looking to buy or sell on the Cape, please reach out. I would love to work with you.
CAPE COD COOKING

Gustare Gourmet is a beautiful shop on Main Street in Chatham. It is one of my favorite go-to places when I need a gift, especially for my foodie friends. They put everything together beautifully. Even when it’s not a gift, their packaging looks like a gift to yourself. They also include suggested recipes! Here you will find an abundant amount of olive oils and balsamic vinegars that range from traditional to unique flavors such as White Truffle Olive Oil or Cape Cod Cranberry-Pear Balsamic Vinegar. Additionally, they sell finishing salts, honey, dried pasta, cookbooks and so much more.

DID YOU KNOW?
The state fruit of Massachusetts is the cranberry (you likely did). However, the current largest grower is Wisconsin first and MA second. Cranberries were first planted in Dennis, MA around 1816. Several years later Harwich became the industry leader with 209 acres of cranberry land. There are many bogs you can visit on the Cape year-round. Cranberries grow mid-July to mid- September. They are harvested mid-September to mid-December.
