Swan River, Dennis: Such a fun spot to kayak. This paddle on Swan Pond and Swan River has the advantage of an exceptionally easy launch with places to rent kayaks. There is always enough water, regardless of the tide, but the tide is strong so I highly recommend trying to time it so you go back to your starting point with the tide bringing you in. Cape Cod Waterways is super helpful and a great launching point. Capecodwaterways.com

MARKET UPDATE
Happy Spring! (almost) The President of Compass Real Estate Neda Navab recently discussed how the housing market is gaining momentum. While a once-in-a-decade winter temporarily disrupted what had been a four-month streak of gains in existing home sales, Compass data shows national inventory is up approximately 10% year-over-year, while weekly mortgage applications to purchase a home have increased 4% compared to this time last year — both positive indicators as we head into the spring market.
If you’re thinking about buying, selling, or just want to understand what these trends mean for your specific neighborhood, I’m always happy to help.

CHATHAM ORPHUEM THEATER
The Chatham Orpheum Theater is a thriving nonprofit hub for film, culture, and community, hosting everything from Hollywood blockbusters to independent films, documentaries, free kids’ summer movies, live music, and fundraising events.
The Orpheum’s evolution from a CVS to a vibrant community cinema and cultural center began in 2012, thanks to local residents who raised funds to restore its historic 1916 space. I recently went and saw Song Sung Blue (SO good! SO good!) and enjoyed great food too. You can get food, a drink and bring it in to the show! I especially love the mural featuring so many famous faces.

Did you know?
The Staples Rock is a wide boulder in Orleans, Massachusetts, that went from local curiosity to statewide attraction for its strange location and quirky vibes. The large rock was uncovered during some sewer work on the Orleans Marketplace parking lot. After a motor accident when a driver crashed into the Staples building in 2024, the suggestion to put the Staples Rock in the parking lot to guard the building was floated, the property manager said.
That suggestion, joke or not, stuck.
