MARKET UPDATE

Summer is in full swing on the picturesque shores of Cape Cod. So is the real estate market! According to the Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors®, Barnstable County has seen a significant increase in median sales price to $750,000 which is up 7.1% year to date. It's an exciting time for both buyers and sellers. Lately, I have been asked, “Ok, but is there anything out there to buy?” Yes! New listings surged with a 12.1% increase for single-family homes. Great listings are continually coming on the market at all different price points.

There are still many weeks of summer to enjoy on the Cape. We truly have had the most ideal weather this year. I love getting out on the water by boat or sitting on the beach with a great book. Still, my favorite time of year on the Cape is coming—the fall! It’s called the shoulder season and there are strong rental rates well into the fall.

CAPE COD COOKING

If you follow me on Instagram (@meredyth_capecod), you likely saw that I went to a cheese making class this winter at ACK Gioia. I also went to a pasta making class at another restaurant. That was a fun new find for me during the off-season on the Cape. Several restaurants pivot when quiet or even closed and host classes. ACK Gioia is a mother/daughter team selling handmade cheese, freshly baked focaccia, charcuterie boxes and many other items. They serve breakfast and lunch daily with fabulous sandwiches made to order. As if all of that wasn’t enough, they went and won national awards for their cheese! The American Cheese Society awarded their burrata 3rd place and their Stracciatella FIRST place! I have had both and not surprised about these wins.
