MARKET UPDATE

Come to the Cape! The weather has been fabulous. We’ve had lots of new restaurants pop up too. Real estate feels good and busy. The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). U.S. does report that things are quieting down nationally. Existing-home sales decreased 5.9% month-over-month and 2.4% year-over-year to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.02 million units, according to the affordability challenges and economic uncertainty weigh on market activity. The Median Sales Price was up 0.4 percent to $797,912 for single-family homes but was down 6.3 percent to $480,000 for condominium properties

Planning, strategy, and setting your goals are more important than ever when working with a realtor, regardless of which side of the deal you're on.

If you are looking to buy or sell on the Cape, please reach out. I would love to work with you. If you’re not currently seeking, I would appreciate you passing along my name to friends and family.

CAPE COD SHOPS

Smith Family Popcorn goes by the slogan, “Good People, Great Popcorn.” It perfectly summarizes this fun shop in the heart of Hyannis with a second location at Mashpee Commons. This family owned business makes small batches of popcorn offering many different flavors. I love several, but if you make me choose one I can’t resist the sea salt caramel.

Ingredients are sourced from other family owned and/or local businesses. Smith Family Popcorn is also committed to the community. When you make a purchase you can choose from a rotation of charities to donate a portion of the proceeds to. I recently chose Sandy Paws Rescue. But wait, there’s more! In 2023, Neptune's opened directly next door to the Hyannis location. They feature a number of quality brews in addition to cocktails and bar bites. It’s family friendly with lots of space both inside and out!

DID YOU KNOW?

The 50-mile stretch between Chatham and Provincetown is often called the “Graveyard of the Atlantic.” More than 3,000 shipwrecks occurred off its shore over 300 years of recorded history. Many ships traveling between Boston and New York had to navigate strong currents along with treacherous sandbars, thick fog and powerful nor’easter storms. Have you ever seen the movie The Finest Hours? It’s based on a true story of a Coast Guard rescue in Chatham in 1952. Another notable shipwreck is the Whidah. It’s a pirate ship that sank off the coast in 1717. The wreckage was discovered in 1984 and is the only fully authenticated Golden Age pirate shipwreck ever found. You can learn more about the Whidah and view other pirate artifacts at the Whidah Pirate Museum in W. Yarmouth. For more information visit discoverpirates.com.
