Pleasant Bay Harwich/Chatham: This is a special spot on the Cape for me and my family. I took this photo during a walk on Nov 3. All boats have left their moorings for the season. Something fun about this spot is you can take in beautiful views from both the Wequassett Resort in Harwich and Eastward Ho! golf course in Chatham.

MARKET UPDATE

The Cape is nice and busy as we continue to have beautiful fall weather. It’s noticeable on the weekends that many are out and enjoying all the Cape offers this time of year. When I look ahead into November and December there are no shortage of ways to celebrate the coming holiday season. Come visit and explore many shops during holiday strolls, hop on the Polar Express, and I also happen to know that Santa makes visits all over the Cape and some by boat!

What typically slows down this time of year is real estate. We are seeing fewer new listings, but still good activity on the inventory that is out there.

The most recent report from the Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors® reported a 4.7% increase in closed sales and a 5.7% increase in median price at $755,500 year-to-date for single-family homes. Purchase price is staying strong as sellers are closing at 97.2% of the list price. Only a .6% dip year-to-date. The number of days on market did increase by 29.4% though to 44 days.

If you are looking to buy or sell on the Cape, please reach out. I would love to work with you.

DID YOU KNOW?

The menu at the first Thanksgiving dinner at Plymouth Colony in 1621 didn’t include many of our favorite side dishes or the star of the show, turkey! Historians believe the meal was mostly seafood. The pilgrims and Wampanoag Native American tribe enjoyed many of our coastal favorites: lobster, mussels and oysters. And maybe a not so favorite, eel. They also enjoyed venison along with lots of vegetables like peas, beans, squash and corn. So, no cranberry sauce, no pumpkin pie (or my mom’s favorite pecan), and no mashed potatoes. Potatoes hadn’t been grown in North America until 1719.

What’s your favorite dish for Thanksgiving?
